Along with this file you should have received two other files
1) Dive Log and 2) Dive partners. Also included on on of the blank cards in the dive log is a button and icon to be placed on your HOME card to allow easy navigation amongst all of your stacks as well as these new stacks.
If you are new to Hypercard or Hypercard programing I hopefully have intentionally made the instructions easy for you to follow, there is nothing more frustrating than to have instructions read like a grad students text book, I know it makes me REAL UPSET.
This is my first attempt at stack design and am surprised at how easy it really was. With the instructions, I will be exposing you to some of the commands that "real programers" use. So hang on, click your heels three times grab Toto and were off.
First click on the Dive Log Stack and they will open, page through them until you find the card with the magic button, you'll know it when you find it. Now mouse up to your menu bar and to the GO Menu, click on HOME and your HOME card will appear. Click on the left arrow and you will be presented with you user level card, click on the scripting button and return to home. Mouse the heading GO in the menu bar, this time choose RECENT. You will be shown several small cards each representing cards that you have seen in the last few minuets click to one that represents the one with the magic button on it.
Mouse to the TOOLS heading and choose the dashed square (second row first box) and your cursor will turn into a cross hair. Place the cross hair to the upper left of the dive flag and click and hold and drag across the flag so that the box created includes the flag and the words"Dive Log" and release the mouse. Now mouse to the EDIT heading and choose COPY PICTURE. Now mouse to GO and choose home, mouse to EDIT and choose PASTE PICTURE. The picture will appear on you home card, click and hold on the center of the dive flag and drag it to an open area of your HOME card.
Return to the GO menu and choose RECENT and return to the Card where the magic button is located (you will not be able to see it). Mouse to the TOOLS heading and choose the button selector (top row middle selection).A blank square will now be visible, this is the magic button click on it and it will start to "shimmer", go to the edit menu and choose COPY BUTTON , go to the GO menu and select HOME the Home card will appear, from the EDIT menu choose PASTE BUTTON and the magic button will appear, hold the mouse down on it and drag it over the Dive flag.
Return to the TOOLS menu and select the hand and now press the dive flag and if all has gone will you will be wisked off to the Dive Log Stack . If this doesen't occur you will be presented with a choice box, click cancel. Mouse to the TOOLS menu and select the button selector and click the dive flag, the box will again "shimmer". Mouse to the OBJECTS menu and select BUTTON INFO... and a choice box will appear. Click the link button, now another choice button will appear but DONT TOUCH IT YET. Mouse to the GO menu and choose recent, select any of the Dive Logs that appear, the second choice box will again appear now choose THIS STACK and the link will be made. Return to the HOME card pick the hand from the TOOLS menu and again click the flag.
Well I hope everything has gone acording to plan. This is my first attempt at creating stacks and their associated files. These files are free and the only thing that I ask is that I recieve some type of feed back from you, good or bad, ideas or suggestions all will be welcome. The address appearing on the Dive Partner card with my name is accurate. I also can be reached thru Comp-U-Serve #70701,2577 or GEnie with the address of J.Billett.
Heres wishing all of your dives are in 80íwaters and visibility is unlimited,
